The Question

I’ve been writing this blog on WordPress for a little over a year. In my posts I have attempted to explore what Scripture has to say on a variety of issues. My goal is to be challenged and to challenge others to take a fresh look at the Bible and how it should impact the way I live and the way the Church (all believers) should function.

One of my goals for this year is to find ways of engaging in dialog rather than have the communication be almost exclusively one way. To encourage two-way communication, I propose occasionally having a Q&A post where I ask a question and solicit answers from those who follow or read the blog.

Here is the first question on which I’d like some dialog:

What issues do you see facing the church as western society moves further away from a Biblical mindset?

The Answer

This time its up to the readers to provide the answers. Please post your thoughts as comments below. I’m really looking forward to hearing from you.

As Western society moves away from  "Cultural Christianity" and Biblical literacy, the church must have the courage to speak the Gospel in truth and with clarity.

Increasingly, the belief in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ will be resigned to the stuff of mythology and fairy-tale by the "enlightened" masses. The church will be tempted to market the Gospel in more relevant and practical expressions, seeking to avoid offending the sensibilities of the hearers.  The church would then be trusting in their ability to market the Gospel, rather than in the power of the Holy Spirit to change the heart of one who has heard of the forgiveness of sin in Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, we are already seeing this reaction in the church and can only assume that unless the Lord brings revival, the trend will continue.

We must not cease in telling the truth presented in Romans 6:23

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Thanks Brandon. Your comment reminds me of Paul's command to Timothy to "Preach the Word"
