John Lennox on Truth

John Lennox on TruthMy mention of truth leads me to fear that some people of postmodernist persuasion may be tempted not to read any further, unless of course they are curious to read (and maybe even attempt to deconstruct) a text written by someone who actually believes in truth. For my part I confess to finding it curious that those who claim that there is no such thing as truth expect me to believe that what they are saying is true! Perhaps I misunderstand them, but they seem to exempt themselves from their general rubric that there is no such thing as truth when they are either speaking to me or writing their books. They turn out to believe in truth after all.

On the other hand, with the rise of store brands, we know that good stuff can be found in very plain packages. Visually stunning packaging is done […]

What I learned about the church from a cruise ship

I recently returned from a cruise to Bermuda from the Baltimore harbor. It was my first experience of being on the open ocean during the day where there is a 360° view of nothing but water and an occasional ship. To be on that ship in relatively calm weather, with the blue sea all around […]

How to fight spiritual battles

“There are plenty of problems facing the world today. We can worry about them. We can talk about them. We can protest in the streets. We can form organizations that pressure politicians to solve them. We can give money. We can write blogs. The one thing we must do is pray. If Samuel does not […]

Abandoned by God – 1 Samuel 15:35

1 Samuel 15:35 (ESV) 35 And Samuel did not see Saul again until the day of his death, but Samuel grieved over Saul. And the Lord regretted that he had made Saul king over Israel. Saul had abandoned God and as a result, God abandons Saul. Someone once said that we have two options which […]
