Atheist authors present God as vengeful and capricious. Jesus presented a very different picture of his father. We must choose the correct perspective to view God correctly.

Why don’t we do better at this?

It seems to me that this answers the question of why we don’t do better at loving others. I fail to love others when I fail to appreciate how much I am loved by God.

Do not be anxious

The problem is that often I don’t even realize that I am getting anxious. In those times, I lose sight of what is really important in the press of the urgent stuff around me.

Too often, we fight the culture war by digging a trench and lobbing arguments at the enemy trench. Better we meet between the trenches.

That Jesus loved us enough to “tabernacle among us” (John 1:14) should blow our minds. That his did so for the purpose of dying to redeem us adds to the “amazingness” of the whole plan.

Peace is the one thing that is lacking in many churches today. Perhaps it is because it is one thing that is lacking in many believers today. Or, perhaps, I am projecting this on others because of a lack of peace in my own life.
