Discourse

We seem to have gotten to the point in our society where we can no longer have civil discourse. If someone makes a claim for truth, rather than take on his arguments and present counter arguments, it is much easier to just label his opinion as hateful and thereby wrong. It is easier to discredit the messenger than to respond to the message.

Ending Well

From this, I conclude that the secret that will allow us to end well is to be constantly reminded of our own tendency to go off track. We need a realization of our complete dependence upon God for anything good to come from our labors.

Thoughts on death prompted by my dog

I understand that the decline and death of a dog is not a major event in the larger scheme of things. But, our 10 year old golden retriever is having health issues and it is difficult to watch. Compared to the loss of a spouse, parent, sibling or child, this is a very small hurt, but a real one none-the-less.
