It is necessary

It is necessary to use words. While we may, by our actions, lead someone into being different on the outside, it is only the gospel that can change someone on the inside. The gospel that changes people on the inside must be conveyed in words.

Worship

It is a worship problem, not a sin problem

If I am worshiping God, if I am acknowledging my dependence upon him, then, and only then, I have the perspective to see these sins for what they are. They are ugly, no matter how much the culture around me (both church and state) seek to justify them or make them palatable.

I was recently sent a copy of Cold-Case Christianity for Kids by J. Warner Wallace and Susie Wallace. I have previously reviewed (and recommended) two of Wallace’s earlier works, Cold-Case Christianity and God’s Crime Scene so I knew going in that I was likely to enjoy this book also.

Non conformity

Conformity versus unity in the church

I have observed that in some cases when a pastor or church leader speaks about unity that what they mean is conformity. There is a big difference. Unity is motivated from the inside out, conformity is enforced from the outside.

Allowing God to be mysterious

As I have grown older, I have become increasingly comfortable with allowing God to be mysterious. This has relieved me of some of the pressure to provide explanations for particular events.
