More than you can handle

On the surface, it seems correct to say that “God will not give you more than you can handle.” Paul does tell us in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that God will not allow us to be tempted beyond our ability to escape the situation. But it is a huge jump to infer from this that God will not allow you to encounter situations that you cannot handle.

When we are faced with difficulty or uncertainty in our current situation, we can wish that we could go back to some other time and place that seemed like Paradise compared to what we currently face. Like the Israelites, we can forget about the discontent, stress and other annoyances that caused to move on.

What does the Bible primarily teach?

The very real question I have to ask myself is whether I am willing to submit to what God has revealed to me. Am I willing to acknowledge him as creator and sustainer? Am I willing to be obedient to how he has revealed I should act?
