Counterfeits and the real thing

Counterfeit

The fact that evil deeds have been done by those who claim allegiance to Christ is a criticism that is sometimes raised against Christianity. Have a great summer

Have a great summer

I have decided that this will be my last post until September. Call it a vacation, call it a sabbatical, call it whatever you will, I will be taking a break.

Please God alone

My greatest struggle in being part of the church has been when leaders possessed a certitude about how things should be done that borders on presumption. If I have learned one thing about humanity, it is that we are all inherently flawed. I have ample evidence in myself and others of the depravity of man. We are broken and that brokenness affects everything that we touch. As a result, we should have a healthy distrust of ourselves and a confidence in God alone.

Bible Reading

A great reminder about Bible reading

If I approach the text with humility and self-denial the result will be much different than if I approach it with a sense of superiority and judgment.

Why I write Attempts at Honesty

We have gotten a decent amount of traffic so it appears that people are getting something out of reading these posts. With new readers discovering the blog all the time, I felt that it was necessary to articulate some thoughts about why I keep up the blog and some items that are not reasons that I do it.

Isn’t it ironic? Thoughts on the Donnie McClurkin controversy

I find it ironic that Donnie McClurkin, a black man, was uninvited to perform at a civil rights concert because he acknowledged his ex-gay status.
