On Grace and Mercy Combined

Grace and Mercy

If we are honest, the fact that we are not moral train wrecks has more to do with God’s grace than our ability to live out the Christian life. So why not extend that same grace to others?

Grace combined with even a modicum of mercy will have a powerful effect.

Crowd

Crowds and compassion

While we might view a crowd as an inconvenience, Jesus viewed the crowd as an opportunity to meet their physical and spiritual needs. There is much we can learn from Jesus’ feeding of the 4,000 as recorded in Mark 8.

23

What offices does Christ fill as our Redeemer?

Jesus is the only one who has demonstrated the ability and the authority to fulfill all three of these offices in combination in one person.

When treated like a servant . . .

The bottom line is that I don’t need to be validated by others when I am a servant of Jesus Christ, because Jesus gives me the ultimate status as a child of God.

More Righteous

More righteous than the Pharisees?

Jesus states we must be more righteous than the scribes and Pharisees to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. How is this possible? Why would Jesus say this?
