The Apostle Paul enjoins us to think others more important than ourselves. We can either elevate others or practice false humility.

Don’t play the Korah card

I have been in a couple of situations where concerns were brought to a pastor who then likened the one who brought the concern to Korah attacking Moses. While I understand the temptation for a leader to deal with a complaint in this way, that temptation must be resisted. Not only is it inappropriate, it does nothing to fix the situation (unless of course the leader’s goal is to eliminate any other opinion than his own).

Water, chisel or dynamite? Choosing the right tool to drive change

For effective change to take place in an organization, the leader must understand the needs of the organization and select the proper tool to drive that change. The analogy of using water, a chisel or dynamite to change rock provides some insight as to the proper speed and amount of change that is needed.

Perhaps forgetting is choosing to no longer let those things determine our path forward. The choice is to not let those things define us but allow God to give us a fresh start.
