What I heard in this phrase this morning is: Now is the day to repent of failure and begin again. Now is the day to be transformed (Romans 12:2). Now is the day to continue the process of being redeemed from the effects of sin.

But, Jesus is the one who promised to build his church, and if we move away from the message he has given us to proclaim, then we have usurped his authority and gone rogue.

No fear in love . . .

In my previous post, I commented on internal fears that can influence how we approach life. I am becoming increasingly aware of the influence of fear in my own life. We have advertising which […]

Return

Rend your hearts and not your garments

My experience is that if you have been in the church for any length of time, it becomes easy to play a role and do “churchy” stuff and just go with the flow. We can put on our game face, come to church, sing three songs, give some offering, listen to a sermon and plan our lunch during the closing song.

Light

Psalm 43:3 – Light and Truth

Psalm 43:3 (ESV) 3 Send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling! As I read this verse this morning, I was reminded of Jesus’ claim to be the light of the world found in John 8:12, 9:5 and 12:46. Since […]

Have a great summer

I have decided that this will be my last post until September. Call it a vacation, call it a sabbatical, call it whatever you will, I will be taking a break.
